About Us

The mission of North Fulton Community Charities is to prevent homelessness in North Fulton by supporting families in their homes during short-term emergencies. By pooling the resources of local religious, business, and civic groups and individuals, NFCC assists families with rent, utilities, transportation, food, clothing, medicine, and other basic needs. NFCC also coordinates special assistance to families during the holidays and matches volunteers with projects.

During 2007 NFCC provided assistance to 4,201 local families. Each family's need was different due to: a lost job, an injury or illness that prevented work, a failed marriage, domestic violence, a new baby and no insurance, car trouble, toothaches, and day care problems. Some families required assistance off and on throughout the year, others only once or twice. In 2007 NFCC helped with $706,825 in rent, utilities, medicine, and other basic needs and gave out food to over 80 families every day. The need continues to grow faster than our resources.

All donations for assistance are used only to help families with emergency needs. Personnel and operating costs are covered by grants, including United Way and Fulton County, and the income from The Thrift Shop.
