Services

Emergency Financial Assistance: NFCC gives direct aid for rent, utilities, medical expenses, transportation and other basic needs on an emergency basis.

Food Pantry: NFCC distributes more than a ton of food and staple goods each week. Over 17,218 family food distributions were made in 2007. Food is provided based upon the caseworker's assessment of the client's needs, which helps as a supplement in order to reduce the financial need.

Thrift Shop: NFCC's on-site Thrift Shop serves hundreds of families with their clothing, household goods and furniture needs. Over 2,000 families qualify for clothing vouchers, while others pay nominal prices.

Bilingual Assistance: Assistance is available in Spanish, including help with translation, school registration, identification and access of other services.

Financial Planning Classes: NFCC offers financial planning classes for clients in English and Spanish. Class is required for those seeking repeat assistance. In 2007 over 231 individuals attended these classes.

Holiday Assistance: NFCC coordinates assistance to families during Thanksgiving and December holidays, a program that brings joy to those giving as well as receiving. 1,489 families received holiday assistance in 2007.

Special Assistance: Easter baskets in April; School Supplies in August; Winter Coats in October, and donated Automobiles.

Special Projects: NFCC matches volunteers with service projects, eg. yard work for seniors, minor home repair, companionship, odd jobs, fund raisers, food and clothing collections.

Indigent Health Care: NFCC works closely with public health, Grady Hospital, and private providers to secure access for indigent families.

Dental Care: NFCC matches volunteer dentists with low-income families for emergency dental care.

Advocacy: NFCC works with the community and other non-profit agencies to advocate for unmet needs and increased access to services for low-income residents
