In Appreciation: David Sonenberg
During NFCC's Calabash Cotillion, we surprised and honored longtime Board President David Sonenberg with overdue recognition. David was one of a handful of Concerned Citizens who gathered in 1982 and created NFCC. He served as President of the Board for an incredible 25 years. Under his leadership, NFCC has grown , adding programs, staff and hundreds of volunteers to serve the needs of a dynamic community. We acquired and renovated a 20,000 sq. ft. building and successfully closed a $3,000,000 Capital Campaign. NFCC may look different today than it did in our infancy 25 years ago, but the underlying goal remains the same: People Helping People to Help Themselves.
As former board member Penn Hodge said, "North Fulton owes Mr. David Sonenberg a monumental salute for his passionate, tireless, selfless dedication to North Fulton Community Charities." David Sonenberg accepted the outpouring of thanks and recognition with customary humility and said, "NFCC has never and will never be about one person, rather the collective efforts of many."

The Calabash Cotillion was a Bash!

On April 19th over 300 NFCC friends gathered at the Alpharetta Marriott for The Calabash Cotillion, which kicked off NFCC's 25th Anniversary celebration. The casual evening of great beach music with The Jesters from Athens allowed guests to reminisce on the glory days of beach music, while enjoying great food and great conversation. A highlight of the evening was the recognition of David Sonenberg for 25 years as President of NFCC's Board of Directors. Surrounded by decorations of starfish, sand, seashells and tiki huts, guests enjoyed the beach, without going into the water. The successful evening which also included a live and silent auction raised almost $70,000 to support our emergency assistance programs. The memorable night left guests already planning for next year's event. Special thanks to the Calabash Committee volunteers and our cochairs David Sonenberg and Don Rolader. Stamp Out for Hunger...A Great Success

Pictured from left are: Roswell Letter Carriers Wayne Cristofanelli, Greg Wolfe, Fred Sartor, Alan Day, Mike Scarce, Mike Harper and Kevin Bland.

North Fulton community...you did it again. On Saturday, May 10, the National Association of Letter Carriers sponsored there 16th annual Stamp Out Hunger national food drive. This is our nation's largest single-day food drive, which support local food pantries in the community. This year's Stamp Out Hunger food drive collected 15 tons of food for NFCC (30050 pounds). This drive helps NFCC fill food requests throughout the lean summer months, and with the continued effects of this dreadful economy, the need is great. Without the help of our neighbors, helping neighbors, this program would not be a success. We want to thank the local carriers from Crossville, Eves Road, Old Milton, and Webb Bridge, and you the community, for always answering our call for help.
